Looks like you've got plenty of interested parties! I checked it out; the 'virtual goods' idea with the Tickbucks is definitely your hook. I'm interested to learn a little more about the site and how it came to be.
Best,
-j
Could you tell me more about your new social network?
Thanks!

I do have some experience for myself and consulting for friends small businesses/non-profs. I ran my own business for years, then worked marketing and branding a luxury linens company, and now am writing for Martha Stewart. I am currently building on my Social Media experience.
Before I say anything more, I'd like to direct you to a few articles I was reading just last week about online video sites. Shockingly (to me), there seems to be a lack of a viable business model for them. These two articles below by Benjamin Wayne, the President and CEO of online video content site, http://fliqz.com/

Perhaps I am incorrect in my assumption that your site is attempting to be something of a cross between YouTube and Twitter. Perhaps you can say more succinctly (in the 'ABOUT' area I mentioned I thought you needed) something about what your site is for. You have the beginning components of a brand, I think you need to go a bit further in terms of communicating who and what you are.
Social Media is not going to make or break a company, necessarily, if the business model isn't right at the start. With a promising model, strategic plans for execution, and with the new opportunities for reach and growth that a Social Media plan brings to integrated marketing and promotional efforts, one can take flight.
Best,
Mary
Thank you for your response. I have checked out your site and I like it...The only problem that I had immediately was that there was no real definition of what the site was really about on the home page. Maybe a more detailed mission statement would be helpful.
I like the contest...but maybe it could be for a membership drive. Something other than the Tickbucks to get your current members to recruit new members. Also, maybe the contest winners could be announced on the home page with pics of them with their winnings.
Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Bebo are all good sites to create fan pages and such for the site. You could even create a social network on Ning promoting your new site....
I have to agree with Mary...Youtube is an excellent resource. Maybe you could create a viral video about Sidetick...include the Tickbuck and the contests...maybe something light and airy that will catch folks attention.
I am very interested in this opportunity. I have some experience with building communities. Last year I had a social network here on Ning that had well over 300 members. I also have a website that has been up for almost five years now. Its an e-commerce site but it's packed with personality. At present I'm revamping the site so it is a little bare. You can check out some of my other pages/sites for reference if you'd like. http://www.myspace.com/principlesofpleasure
