Do you place your social networking e-mail addresses....

Last week, I read in several on-line marketing publications that many corporates and businesses just discovered the idea of sharing social networking addresses as part of e-mail digitial signatures!

I have been doing this activity for 3 years in business and personal e-mail. This activity reminds friends or clients to join and interact on social networks with me.  How long have you been conducting this off-line activity for yourself and clients? Is it effective?

Strange to think everyone isn't doing this, but it's pretty common for corporate folks to miss this. Good advice always seems the simplest.
Having been in the business of social media for over four years now, I've been including my social networking addresses for quite a while. The one caution I would make: If the person isn't that active on the particular social network, they should not include their SN addresses. The expectation is that if you do include them, them you must be active on them, and if you are active on them and I ping you, I'll hear back from you in an acceptable time frame - with "acceptable" sometimes meaning any time from immediately to only slightly longer than immediately. :)
Great suggestion about not including networks one isn't active on within your e-mail! I encountered this about 6 months ago with several new clients. Less networks=less social media fatigue!
It seems lately millions are catching on.  Even network news programs mention and post on screen their Facebook and Twitter addresses.  I know there are many other valuable networking sites out there but it seems these two still have an edge.  Someone has to be managing these sites full time to be effective so there must be a fair amount of jobs in social media.
